About Don McCunn
I am a photographer/costumer raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I hold a BS in theatre from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in theatre from UCSB. For me photography is theatre at 1/60th of a second. It gives me particular pleasure to work with talented models to create original imagery inspired by fine art that has been enjoyed for centuries. HI Kate, Nice to hear from you. I have stopped doing fine art photography So far I have sold two prints in all the years I have been with Fine Art. Not too conducive to keeping it up. I haven't been to Castro Tarts since the pandemic. I feel like renewing that relationship with them where photography is concerned would be opening a can of worms. I didn't sell a single piece with all the exhibits I did there. And I have given away both my printer and matting equipment to a ballet dancer who does beautiful photography. However, I have been using my photography for my books which are selling well. I used this image in a book I am bringing out so on the wild chance someone might want a print, I have trimmed down my presence here to a collection from my book "Revisiting the Classics." Of course the book is also not selling but who knows.... But I am very, very excited about my new book. It is a culmination of the 50 years I have spent showing people how to create bespoke sewing patterns. How about you? How have things been going on your end? Best, Don
