Artist's Description

With the mistress of Louis XV as his patron, Francois Boucher enjoyed respect and success, becoming the "first painter to the king" in 1765.

Boucher’s "Diana Bathing" is part of a series for a lavish hunting lodge.

In Greek mythology, Diana was the goddess of the hunt.

Even so, she’d be fair game.

(Excerpt from the book "Revisiting the Classics.")

About Don McCunn

Don McCunn

I am a photographer/costumer raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I hold a BS in theatre from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in theatre from UCSB. For me photography is theatre at 1/60th of a second. It gives me particular pleasure to work with talented models to create original imagery inspired by fine art that has been enjoyed for centuries.
